As Mayor of East Hills I would like to cordially welcome you to our website and invite you to gain a greater insight into one of the finest communities in America. Our sense of community is one of the strongest. Our lifestyle is one of the very best. These conclusions are
supported by news reports in the NEW YORK TIMES (click here)
and NEWSDAY (click here). Through this introductory note I hope to
convey the enviable lifestyle our residents enjoy.
East Hills is the
largest of all the villages in Roslyn. We are fortunate to have
7,000 residents with 2,300 homes. If you have any questions you would like answered, please use the Instant Access Program below on the right and we will be glad to respond promptly to your inquiries. Let me begin by saying that the real credit for our success belongs to our residents who are neighborly, outgoing, and friendly. We work closely together every day, and host a variety of fun-filled events together. During the summer we once again held a one-of-a-kind, spectacular July 4th Fireworks Display on the Great Lawn at the Park at East Hills Close to 5,000 people were astonished at the incomparable show. At the end of the summer on Labor Day we had one of the finest concerts we have ever held when Voyage, a tribute band to Journey performed. It's always fun in East Hills. With all the new events over the summer by the Kids in the Park Committee, East Hills is truly a haven for families.
Overall, our crowning glory is the acquisition and construction of our 50-plus acre park, which is now the center of our community. All residents are given access to the state-of-the-art facilities, which feature the largest leisure pool of any village on Long Island with a 12,000 sq. feet swimming pool, a separate pool for toddlers measuring 707 sq. ft; men's and lady's locker rooms; snack bar area and large lounge area surrounding the heated pool. It also features a new Senior center with a separate card room, two age distinct children's playgrounds, six tennis courts with a new tennis facility, two multi-use fields with one accommodating men's softball, and both little league, and soccer competition. Snuggled in the 15 acres of hills is a nature and jogging trail. There is a fully renovated auditorium, a picnic area, and a general use field for lawn games. Finally, there are bike, rollerblading and walking paths, two basketball courts, and two "bark parks" for various sized canine members of the family.
East Hills is also committed to protecting the environment by going green, reducing emissions, and reducing the consumption of fuel. One program to achieve these desired goals is through the purchase of hybrid vehicles for the department of Public Safety.
In short, thanks in major part to my Board of Trustee's, our Village has grown in stature and prestige and is known for its cutting edge innovations, whether it is our new park, our essential services, our internship program for high school students, our one-of-a-kind Village Calendar that is sent to all our residents each year with convenient dates and information, beautification programs or the new local laws passed to protect the lifestyle of our residents.
An Award-Winning Community, East Hills is the recipient of one of the highest awards of any New York State Village from the AAA Automobile Club of New York, Inc. for the high degree of safety on our streets and in our neighborhood. The Village also enjoys one of Moody's highest credit ratings of any village its size, for fiscal integrity.
East Hills is one of the finest and most exclusive communities to live in the United States with the highest quality of life and remarkable facilities. We have some of the best civic association leaders and many of the most devoted and dedicated community leaders.
The excellent services our village provides includes Sanitation; Security; Road Repavement; Snow Removal; Beautification; Tree Trimming and Removal; Road, Common Areas and Village Cleaning; Administration of the Justice Court; Legislation and Oversight over Zoning Regulations; Village Taxing; Village Licensing; Code Enforcement; Contracting Services with our two Volunteer Fire Departments; Statute Revision; Maintenance of all Facilities; Operation of the Fitness Center, the Tennis Facilities, the largest Municipal Leisure Swimming Pool on Long Island, and the Park Grille; Ultimate Control over Village Programs including Seniors' Program; Mayor's Trophy Softball Tournament; Operation of the Playgrounds for Children, the Sports Fields for Little League and Men's Mayor's Trophy Softball Competition; Operation of Fireworks Program; Preparation of the East Hills Calendar; Operation of the East Hills Website with its new "Instant Access" Feature; Operation of Tennis Leagues, Concerts at the Park, and of Sledding Hill in the winter; Operation of the Theatre with catering for events, the Nature walk, and the Two Dog Parks with a "Playdates" feature that allows residents to view who is using the facility; Operation of the Walking, Jogging and Biking Paths; Approval of Construction and Renovations; and Operation of two Basketball Courts and a Senior Center.
Please stop-by our Village hall next time you are visiting our community. You'll receive the same warm and friendly welcome that the members of my administrative staff give to all our guests and residents. We would be glad to answer your questions and share with you our enthusiasm of why East Hills has become popularly known as "The Championship Community!"
With my best wishes,

Mayor Michael R. Koblenz
Kids In The Park Holds Spellbinding Animal Adventures Program
On Sunday, January 23, 2012, over 150 residents and guests at the Village Theatre to see two Animal Adventures shows. Both children and adults alike were entertained by Nature Nick's very comical routines interspersed with interesting facts about close to 15 different animals from across the globe. From a miniature wallabie from Australia, to a Toucan named Fruit Loops, the kids were captivated by animals that they were able to see up close. Photos of the children with Tinkerbelle, the fox, were available to bring home as a souvenir, which was a really memorable t way to remember the event. Mayor Koblenz once again praised the Kids in the Park committee members for "organizing and holding another wonderful event for the community."

Taxes to be below 2% next year in East Hills Because, along with other Fiscal Measures, the Mayor and Board Fought Erosion of Tax Base and Gained Over $7 million Extra in Taxes from Developer
In July, 2011 Michael R. Koblenz, Mayor of East Hills, the Board of Trustees and the Roslyn School Board found out that Steel Equities was applying for a 20 year tax abatement from the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency they reacted immediately and combined efforts. While the developer agreed to pay the full taxes now paid during the 20 years, there was no provision for increases in taxes over the entire period. The Mayor entered the fray and drove a hard bargain with the developer to pay more taxes. As a result, Steel Equities agreed to amend the application to the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency and pay, in addition to the full taxes over the next 20 years, a 4% guaranteed increase each year for 17 years compounded and then 5% compounded interest for the remaining three years. The increase is $7,203,570.43, but the entire tax package amounts to $27,145,069 in School, Village and County and Town taxes. "I did not want to see the taxes which are due for our municipalities and our schools paid, instead, by our residents. This is a monumental project that we are proud to have in our community. But, development is a partnership, and each party has to bare their fair share" the Mayor said. The agreement will also avoid future tax certioraris on this property which could have undermined the property value if similar properties or leases lost value.
Other Means that are Keeping Tax Increases Under the 2% State Cap: Mayor and Board Require Developer of Pall Corp. property to Repave Roads with a Savings to Residents of $700,000
Cutting Costs: Mayor Michael Koblenz cuts ribbon to the new Forest Drive. The Mayor also expressed appreciation to Steel Equities, which bought the Pall Corp. property from Lowe's Companies Inc. As part of Steel Equities' project to reface, refurbish and renovate the existing building, the Mayor and Board required the new owner to repave the road. When completed the fashionable building will be known as the East Hills Business Park.
Shown from left to right, along with Mayor Koblenz, center, are Charles Forte, Vice President of Posillico, whose company repaved the roadway, Lindsey and Glenn Lostritto of Steel Equities, Trustee Gary Leventhal, Trustee Peter Zuckerman, Trustee Clara Pomerantz and Deputy Mayor Manny Zuckerman.
