Close to 2,000 residents of East Hills, families and invited friends
celebrated the official opening of the summer program with a
spectacular fireworks program. The program was postponed from
it's original date of July 4th but changed to Saturday July 7, 2007.
With the downpour of rain and high winds, Bay Fireworks waited
until the last minute and fully cooperated to allow the Village to
enjoy the program on another date. The Mayor praised the
company for the show and for their unusual assistance.
Mayor Koblenz was introduced by WBAB radio as the "Master of
all Planners." The credit was given because the Village now has
one of the finest and state-of-the art parks in the nation. One
resident, Jed Pomerantz, commented "the Mayor, with the support
of his board, has infused a great sense of the pride, excitement and
enthusiasm in our community. When ingenious fireworks 3-D
glasses were handed out to the children, I realized that he thinks of
everything. What a great evening!"
The firework program was sponsored by Restaurant which will be
located on Glen Cove Road in East Hills.
Mayor Michael R. Koblenz began his remarks by saying: "Less
than ten months ago we celebrated together the opening of our
new Park at East Hills. It was a spectacular evening, capped by a
dynamic fireworks display. Tonight we will witness a sky full of
explosions and bursting with colors twice that of last year. It is a
symbol that East Hills is always making the best even better,"
The Mayor credit the results he is achieving in major part to his
Board of Trustees including Linda Nathanson, Deputy Mayor, and
Trustees Gary Leventhal, Manny Zuckerman and Peter
Zuckerman. Mayor Koblenz also praised the volunteer firefighters
who are here tonight dedicating their time and efforts so that all the
residents and guests could enjoy the evening. In order to control
the traffic, highly trained professionals were necessary. To that
extent, the Mayor expressed his deepest appreciation to the
members of the Sixth Police Precinct under the leadership of the
Village's good friend and great Commander, and leader of the
Sixth Precinct, Jay Caputo.
The event was one of several to be held under the stars on the great
lawn at the Country-Club, Park at East Hills.
